Structures Estimator - Heavy Civil

Overview

We seek a Structures Estimator with extensive expertise in heavy civil construction. This position is focused on estimating intricate structural projects, such as bridges, concrete structures, water/wastewater facilities, and transportation infrastructure.

The primary responsibilities include preparing precise bids and collaborating closely with operations to ensure project success.

Estimation Scope

• Various forms of concrete structures
• Bridges, retaining walls, and structural foundations
• Water and wastewater treatment facilities
• Box culverts, vaults, and underground structures
• Transportation-related structures

Responsibilities

• Complete estimating process from start to bid submission
• Perform quantity takeoffs for various materials
• Engage with subcontractors and vendors for bid analysis
• Analyze costs for labor, materials, and equipment
• Conduct reviews of plans, specs, and project risks
• Implement cost-saving strategies
• Prepare bid packages and proposals
• Coordinate with project managers and field teams

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of estimating experience in heavy civil or structural construction
• Background in concrete structures and public works projects
• Proficiency in reading plans, specs, and structural drawings
• Experience with estimation software such as Bluebeam or HCSS
• Understanding of production rates, means & methods, and cost factors
• Previous work on DOT/public agency projects is advantageous

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with bridges, water/wastewater, or large structural projects
• Familiarity with Caltrans, municipal, or public works projects
• Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines without oversight
• Effective communication skills with subs, vendors, and internal teams

Salary

Competitive base salary with bonus, depending on experience
