The primary role of a blood draw specialist is to assist with a variety of assigned tasks, provide solutions to issues, offer training, and recommend improvements in workflow.

Position Responsibilities: Skills include blood drawing, specimen labeling, centrifuging, record keeping, decontamination, updating patient records, etc. Ensuring specimens are collected and stored correctly as per procedures. Clearly explaining the venipuncture process or other specimen collection methods as needed. Demonstrating proper technique with straight needles or butterfly needles. Following physicians' orders accurately. Matching requisition forms to specimen tubes. Labeling, centrifuging, splitting, and freezing specimens based on test orders. Double-checking all test requisitions for accuracy. Packaging specimens for transportation. Adhering to OSHA and DEP regulations. Attending annual department trainings. Answering phone calls and addressing inquiries about lab results.

Minimum Qualifications: Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment where required. At least 6 months of experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. High School Diploma or GED. Minimum of 2 years of related experience.
