Power Systems Engineer
We have an opening for a dynamic Power Systems Development Engineer with a leading tech company in Irvine, CA. This role focuses on advanced power systems, power conversion technology, AC/DC, DC/DC, HVDC/DC, inverter systems, and cutting-edge high-power infrastructure solutions for data centers, EV charging, and energy storage.
Applicants must hold a Doctorate in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, or a relevant field.
Qualified candidates from North America can benefit from relocation assistance, with potential visa support including H1B transfer and Green Card sponsorship.
Travel is required, around 20-25%, including international trips to Europe and Asia.
This role emphasizes innovation and prototype development, rather than sustaining engineering or production support. Expect to work on high-power engineering challenges at scales from kilowatts to megawatts.
Duties Include
- Design and assess high-power AC/DC, DC/DC, and HVDC/DC systems
- Support R&D, prototype creation, and platform architecture
- Conduct efficiency optimization, thermal analysis, and system validation
- Lead lab testing, troubleshooting, and performance assessments
- Resolve complex technical issues through root-cause analysis
- Collaborate with R&D teams worldwide on cutting-edge power solutions
- Contribute to next-gen high-density, high-efficiency power platforms
Requirements
- Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, or related
- Experience with high-voltage power systems
- Strong skills in lab testing, debugging, and optimization
- Ability to work from idea to prototype in a development setting
- Interest in customer-focused problem-solving and global partnerships
- Bilingual abilities are a bonus

- Salary: $180K–$200K
- Bonus: 20%
