Our client is a global chemical distribution company in need of a Business Development Executive for their North American division.
We are looking for a proactive individual who can engage in buying, selling, negotiating, and fostering relationships within the chemical market.
The ideal candidate will oversee client and supplier connections, spot new prospects, and aid in expanding the company's reach throughout North America.
This position is not focused on account management, but rather on cultivating business opportunities through knowledge of chemical trading, distributor relationships, pricing strategies, and market trends.
You will play a key role in boosting sales and profitability within a designated territory in North America.
Primary responsibilities include:
Trading chemicals from the company's product range
Generating new business with clients, distributors, suppliers, and industry players
Expanding existing accounts and identifying new profitable ventures
Establishing and maintaining strong ties with clients and suppliers
Providing pricing, proposals, presentations, and market updates
Monitoring market trends, competitor activities, and demand levels
Collaborating with sourcing, supply, sales, marketing, and leadership teams
Managing sales volume, margins, pipelines, and account performance
Supporting supplier/product qualification procedures
Handling customer inquiries efficiently
Representing the company at trade shows and networking events
Ensuring all business practices adhere to regulations and company policies

5-8+ years of experience in chemical sales, trading, distribution, or related roles
5-8+ years in the chemical sector
Prior experience with chemical distributors is highly valued
In-depth understanding of chemicals, market trends, pricing mechanisms, and applications
Proven track record of developing new business and expanding profitable accounts
Excellent negotiation, communication, and presentation abilities
Ability to interact effectively with clients and suppliers
Strong analytical skills with clear market data communication
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and standard business applications
Bachelor's degree required; preferred fields include Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or MBA
5-8+ years of experience in chemical sales, trading, distribution, or related roles
