Biotech Out-Licensing Manager
We are searching for a dynamic biotech organization looking for a US based Head of Business Development to spearhead global out-licensing strategy for biological and therapeutic resources.
This position is entirely remote and is available to individuals located anywhere in the United States. The company is headquartered in Maryland, and candidates who work within Eastern Time Zone hours are highly preferred to facilitate executive cooperation and essential business functions.
Key Requirement
This role necessitates recent, direct experience leading out-licensing transactions within a biotech or pharmaceutical company. Candidates must currently hold or have very recently held a formal Business Development role within a biotech or pharmaceutical firm. Experience outside of biotech/pharma (CROs, medical device, healthcare services, or commercial sales roles) will not meet the requirements for this position.
Role Overview
This top-level executive will be responsible for the global licensing strategy, identification of strategic biopharma partners, structuring complex transactions, and enhancing enterprise value through impactful collaborations.
Primary Responsibilities
• Spearhead global out-licensing efforts for biologics and therapeutic programs
• Identify, evaluate, and endorse pharmaceutical and biotechnology partners
• Perform thorough market analysis and competitive intelligence to effectively position assets
• Structure and negotiate licensing agreements including valuations, milestone payments, royalties, and financial frameworks
• Formulate and deliver high-level business cases and partnership proposals to senior stakeholders
• Lead term sheet development, due diligence, and cross-functional deal execution
• Collaborate with R&D, regulatory, clinical, and executive leadership to optimize portfolio value
• Monitor partner performance post-deal to ensure contractual alignment and responsibility
Qualifications
• Recent, hands-on biotech out-licensing experience as part of your recent Business Development leadership duties
• Extensive experience in biopharmaceutical business development and strategic licensing
• Demonstrated success in negotiating complex global licensing transactions
• Strong financial expertise including asset valuation and deal structuring
• Profound understanding of therapeutic development, regulatory pathways, and commercialization strategy
• Executive-level relationship management skills with a track record of driving measurable results
• Capacity to manage multiple high-stakes initiatives concurrently with accuracy and discretion
This is not a commercial sales position. Eligible candidates must have executed biotech out-licensing transactions within a formal Business Development function.
