Product Strategy Senior Director
My client is growing and in need of an experienced Director of Product Management and Strategy.
The perfect candidate will be responsible for P&L, leading commercialization, and acting as the strategic advocate for customers in the life sciences research industry.
They should possess a strong executive presence, gain respect from highly technical engineering teams, and demonstrate both quantitative rigor and commercial intuition.
Key responsibilities include:
Strategic Leadership
- Develop product strategy, roadmap, and business cases for a portfolio of instruments and software
- Take full ownership of P&L, including revenue and growth targets
- Lead research on customer needs and market trends
- Establish and guide a talented product management team
Product Development
- Collaborate with R&D and Engineering as a knowledgeable technical peer, engaging deeply on requirements and specifications
- Drive integration of hardware and software for superior user experience
- Define technical roadmaps and address cybersecurity concerns for connected platforms
- Experience in optical detection systems, fluidics, or laboratory automation is a plus
Commercial Execution
- Craft positioning, pricing, and go-to-market strategies
- Lead product launches, sales enablement, and competitive analysis
- Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, and Field teams on customer interactions
- Ensure regulatory compliance (FDA, CE, ISO 13485)
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Life Sciences, advanced degree preferred
- 12+ years in product management for life sciences capital equipment or software
- 5+ years of experience in managing teams
- Demonstrated P&L ownership and successful product launches
- Deep understanding of analytical instruments and laboratory software
- Strong quantitative, financial modeling, and communication skills
- 20–25% travel required
This position is located in Maryland.
