Location: Floating among 8 different sites: Utica NY, New Hartford, Rome, Ilion, and Barneveld

Will be moving between 8 different locations, with 2 each in Utica NY, New Hartford NY, Rome NY, 1 in Barneveld NY, and 1 in Ilion NY. The location closest to the candidate's home will serve as the home base

Monday to Friday from 5:45 am to 6:00 pm (varied shifts of 8 hours) and rotating Saturdays from 6:15 am to 12:30 pm (shifts of 4.5-5.5 hours)

Summary:
The primary role of a phlebotomist is to assist with various assigned tasks, problem solving, training, and suggesting improvements to work processes.

Position Duties:

Experience in blood collection, labeling of samples, centrifuging, recording data, decontamination, updating patient records, etc. Ensuring samples are collected and stored following established protocols. Clearly and politely explaining the venipuncture process or other specimen collection procedures to patients. Demonstrating proper techniques with straight needles and butterfly needles. Understanding all physician orders. Matching requisition forms with specimen tubes. Labeling, centrifuging, splitting, and freezing specimens as per test order. Double-checking requisitions against scripts for accuracy. Packaging specimens for transportation. Maintaining specimen integrity during storage and transport according to guidelines. Compliance with OSHA and DEP regulations. Attending departmental training sessions annually. Answering phone calls and relaying laboratory results.

Minimum Requirements: Valid Phlebotomy certification for the relevant state. At least 6 months of experience in venipuncture in a fast-paced lab or hospital. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. High School Diploma or equivalent.
