Schedule: 8am-5pm M-F

Summary:
The primary role of the phlebotomist is to aid in the execution of various assigned tasks, problem solving, training, and providing workflow suggestions.
Responsibilities:
Experience conducting blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, documenting maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information, etc.
Gathers and preserves specimens following established protocols.
Clearly and politely explains the venipuncture (blood draw) process and other specimen collection procedures as necessary.
Demonstrates proper techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
Completely understands all physician orders.
Matches laboratory requisition forms with specimen tubes. Labels, centrifuges, splits, and freezes specimens per test order requirements.
Verifies all test requisitions against scripts to ensure accuracy.
Packages specimens for transportation.
Stores specimen samples at appropriate temperatures, places them in correct containers/tubes, accurately labels them, and follows specific protocols for transport to maintain specimen integrity.
Complies with OSHA and DEP regulations.
Attends annual departmental trainings.
Answers phone calls, provides laboratory results in response to inquiries.
Minimum Requirements:
Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment as required.
At least 6 months of experience performing venipunctures in a busy lab or hospital setting
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
High School Diploma or GED
minimum 2 years of experience
