Location: Salt Lake City UT
Schedule: Monday to Friday from 8am to 4:30pm

Summary:
The primary responsibility of a phlebotomist is to support in executing various assigned tasks, problem solving, training, and offering recommendations to enhance work processes.
Position Responsibilities:
Performing blood draws, labeling samples, centrifuging specimens, maintaining records, decontaminating, updating patient data, etc.
Collecting and storing specimens following established protocols. Clearly explaining the venipuncture or other specimen collection process (e.g. urine or fecal) when necessary.
Demonstrating proper techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
Understanding all physician orders. Matching lab requisition forms to specimen tubes, labeling, centrifuging, splitting, and freezing specimens as per test order requirements.
Checking all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts for accuracy.
Preparing specimens for transportation.
Following proper storage procedures, labeling samples accurately, and complying with OSHA and DEP regulations for specimen transport to maintain integrity. Attending annual departmental training sessions.
Answering phone calls and providing information on lab results as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment if required
At least 6 months of experience with venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital environment
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, High School Diploma or GED
Minimum of 6 months of relevant experience
