This organization is one of the most reputable and diverse General Contractors in the middle-Tennessee area, serving a wide range of clients and project types. They specialize in pure design, design-build projects, and various unique structures. Their portfolio includes projects in the medical, healthcare, public works, retail, restaurant, corporate office, education, mixed-use, hospitality, and multifamily sectors.
Based in Downtown Nashville, they have built an exceptional reputation and enjoy a vast network of repeat clients.
Currently, they are interviewing for a Superintendent position and would like to speak with candidates who possess some of the qualities listed below.
SUMMARY:
The Commercial Superintendent must have 5-20 years of experience in constructing ground-up/new commercial projects. They should be familiar with site work, core/shell construction, build-out, and certificate of occupancy processes.
The Superintendent will contribute to project planning, development, and management of schedules, budgets, and site safety. They will collaborate with project managers and the executive team.
Additionally, the ideal candidate will coordinate subcontractors and vendors, supervise construction projects from design to completion, and primarily focus on restaurant, retail, commercial office, and hospitality structures with ground-up and build-out approaches.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Effective communication with clients, subcontractors, and staff
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong knowledge of Procore Construction Software is highly desired
- Manage daily subcontractor operations
- Supervise craft employees, assign job responsibilities, evaluate productivity, and provide recommendations to management
- Review shop drawings, oversee materials procurement, coordinate deliveries, ensure site accessibility, inspect work quality, and maintain a safe and efficient work site
- Demonstrate proactive and forward-thinking abilities with excellent organization skills
- Possess a strong work ethic and maintain a positive professional attitude
- Provide exceptional customer service to clients, with a focus on communication
- Maintain meticulous documentation standards and deliver daily reports and receipts to the office
- Prepare and negotiate subcontractor agreements and manage budgets using assigned technology/devices
- Select appropriate construction methods and strategies to ensure projects are completed on budget and schedule, in coordination with the design team
- Report project progress, provide weekly updates, and address budget matters to Project Managers and the Director of Construction
- Assist in vetting and hiring subcontractors
- Comply with legal requirements, building and safety codes, and other regulations
- Solve problems and conflicts promptly as they arise
Education:
Preferred qualification: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or a similar field. Must be proficient in computer skills and scheduling software.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Experience with Procore Construction Management Software is a plus
Job Requirements:
- Minimum of 5-10 years of experience in a site-management role for commercial construction
- Demonstrated proactive management of project schedules and budgets
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a positive attitude
- Ability to lead, support, and motivate a team of subcontractors
- Capable of explaining construction processes to employees and subcontractors
- Ability to read and interpret technical construction documents, blueprints, finish schedules, submittals, and equipment specifications
- Management position that does not require working knowledge of hand and power tools
