Automotive Sales Territory Manager

Location: MI

Summary of Responsibilities

This position leads the sales efforts for automotive products in an assigned territory. The Territory Sales Manager is responsible for maintaining existing accounts and developing a strategic growth plan. This position reports to the Business Unit Director.

Principal Responsibilities – Sales

• Achieve sales objectives for the designated territory.

• Become an expert on the company’s product line, pricing, and specifications.

• Utilize the company’s promotional literature in all selling situations.

• Understand and communicate the features, advantages, and benefits of each product.

• Stay informed of the competition’s products and pricing.

• Keep up to date on industry developments and advancements.

• Recognize and communicate sales activity within the territory that may impact the company.

• Maintain relationships with existing accounts and prospect for new accounts.

• Develop individual sales approaches for each account based on their buying/selling practices.

• Conduct sales meetings and train distributor sales personnel.

• Provide necessary tools and skills to distributors to help them sell the company’s products.

• Participate in trade shows to increase sales and market penetration.

• Make joint sales calls with distribution sales team partners.

• Handle quality issues in a fair and equitable manner.

• Identify and report on potential new markets and opportunities.

• Represent the company at trade shows as required.

Principal Responsibilities – Administrative

• Prepare required reports accurately and timely.

• Maintain accurate records of distributors, users, and competition.

• Adhere to established pricing guidelines.

• Use company vehicle according to established procedures.

• Operate within established expense budget guidelines.

• Forecast quarterly and annual sales for the territory.

• Develop pre-planned sales and travel schedules.

• Maintain customer relationships with integrity and professionalism.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

• Minimum of five years of sales experience.

• Excellent communication skills.

• Proficient use of technology and software.

• Strong customer relations and presentation skills.

• Bachelor’s degree in Business/Marketing/Communications or related discipline required.

• Master/Graduate degree is a plus.
