Automotive Sales Representative – Ohio

Reports To: Business Unit Director – Tape Products Division

  1. Job Summary

This position leads the sales efforts for automotive products in Ohio. The Territory Sales Specialist is responsible for maintaining and growing existing accounts within their assigned territory. They will also develop a strategic growth plan that includes acquiring new accounts. This position reports directly to the Business Unit Director.

This is a field-based position.

  1. Sales Responsibilities

• Achieve or exceed sales and marketing objectives for the designated territory.

• Become an expert in the company’s automotive product line, pricing, and specifications.

• Utilize the company’s promotional literature in all selling situations.

• Understand and communicate the features, advantages, and benefits of each product.

• Stay informed about the competition’s products, pricing, and advancements.

• Keep up to date on competitive price and equipment changes.

• Communicate competitive sales activity that may affect company policies.

• Maintain relationships with existing accounts and prospect for new ones.

• Develop sales approaches for each distributor and end-user in the territory.

• Conduct distributor sales meetings and train their personnel on product knowledge.

• Provide necessary tools and skills to distributors to help them sell the products.

• Attend and represent the company at trade shows to increase market penetration.

• Make joint sales calls with distribution sales team partners to secure new business.

• Handle quality issues in a fair and equitable manner.

• Identify and report potential new markets and opportunities for the company.

Administrative Responsibilities

• Prepare and submit required reports promptly and accurately.

• Maintain accurate records using CRM software.

• Maintain the published company selling price.

• Use company automobiles according to established procedures.

• Operate within the established direct expense budget.

• Forecast territory sales on a quarterly and annual basis.

• Develop pre-planned sales and travel schedules.

• Maintain good customer relationships through professional business conduct.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

• Minimum of five (5) years sales experience.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

• Proficient in using technology and software.

• Excellent customer relations and presentation skills.

• Bachelor’s degree in Business/Marketing/Communications or related discipline.

• Master/Graduate degree is a plus.
