Protein Design Researcher

An expanding biotech company in Rockville, MD is seeking a Protein Design Researcher who possesses expertise in molecular dynamics simulations, docking, free energy calculations, and homology modeling. This individual must have a comprehensive understanding of protein structure and function.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Utilize computational modeling methods to design and predict protein structures, including algorithmic homology modeling and de novo design.
  2. Interpret and communicate in silico data, and effectively relay information to department lead and project teams.
  3. Partner with experimental researchers to validate and enhance designed proteins through in vitro and in vivo assays.
  4. Stay updated on the latest advances in computational protein design techniques and contribute to improving design strategies.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in computational chemistry, bioinformatics, structural biology, medicinal chemistry, or a related field.
  • Outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional communication and collaboration abilities to effectively work in interdisciplinary teams.

Essential Experience:

  • Familiarity with bioinformatics tools and structure databases.
  • Proficiency in molecular dynamics simulations, docking, free energy calculations, and homology modeling, with a solid understanding of protein structure and function.

Additional notes:

This role is at the Scientist level and ideally suited for candidates from a PhD program.
