As a Controls Engineer, your responsibilities will revolve around designing complete electrical and controls systems for custom automation projects. This includes working with pneumatics, hydraulics, and collaborating with a team of professionals in a highly collaborative environment.

Position Overview

  • In this role, you will have complete responsibility for designing, programming, and delivering complex and customized automation systems
  • Your main objective will be to design and program efficient automation systems while minimizing costs and meeting delivery deadlines
  • As an essential team member, you will contribute to design review meetings alongside the project manager to discuss specifications and develop cost-effective and time-saving design concepts to meet customer requirements
  • You will be expected to create and submit detailed schedules for electrical and controls system designs to the project manager for each specific project
  • This position entails extensive controls design work, including electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, welding, lubrication, safety, and robotics systems
  • You will also be responsible for programming and commissioning the custom automation systems

Candidate Requirements

  • Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in electrical engineering
  • Over 10 years of experience in electrical and controls engineering within the custom automation systems or custom machinery sector is highly preferred
  • Familiarity with controls systems design in welding, pneumatic, hydraulic, robotic, and/or assembly processes is considered an asset
  • Prior experience working with customers, suppliers, and system commissioning is advantageous
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD or AutoCAD Electrical software for generating electrical schematics is essential
  • Extensive knowledge in Allen-Bradley or Siemens PLC programming is required
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills are a necessity
