Medical Construction Manager


This organization is among the most well-established general contractors in the central Tennessee region, boasting a diverse client base and project portfolio. Their work spans public infrastructure, retail, dining establishments, corporate offices, schools, and mixed-use residential developments. The company is headquartered in the southern Nashville/Brentwood area and has earned an exceptional reputation and loyal clientele in the local market.

Currently, they are seeking a Superintendent for medical construction projects and are interested in speaking with candidates who possess some of the qualifications listed below.


The Medical Construction Manager should have 5-20 years of experience overseeing the construction of new commercial projects, from site preparation to core building construction, all the way through to final completion.

The Manager will assist in project planning, develop and manage schedules, maintain budgets, and ensure site safety in collaboration with the project manager and executive team.

The ideal candidate will also coordinate subcontractors and vendors, manage subcontractor agreements, and supervise construction projects from the design phase to the final completion. The majority of projects will focus on constructing medical facilities, offices, and hospitality structures, involving both ground-up construction and renovations.


  • Excellent communication skills with clients, subcontractors, and staff
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Familiarity with Procore Construction Software is highly desired
  • Manage day-to-day operations of subcontractors
  • Supervise craft employees, including assigning responsibilities, assessing productivity, and providing recommendations to management
  • Review shop drawings, oversee material procurement, coordinate deliveries, ensure site accessibility, inspect overall work quality, and maintain a safe and efficient work environment
  • Proactive and forward-thinking approach, with a high level of organization
  • Demonstrate a strong work ethic and maintain a positive professional attitude
  • Provide exceptional customer service to clients, prioritizing effective communication
  • Maintain thorough documentation standards, submitting reports and receipts to the office on a daily basis
  • Prepare and negotiate subcontractor agreements and manage budgets using company-provided technology/devices
  • Select appropriate construction methods and strategies to complete projects on budget and on schedule, in collaboration with the design team
  • Provide progress reports, weekly updates, and budget updates to Project Managers and the Director of Construction
  • Assist in the evaluation and hiring of subcontractors
  • Ensure compliance with legal requirements, building codes, safety standards, and other regulations
  • Resolve problems and conflicts promptly as they arise


Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or a related field. Proficiency in computer skills and scheduling software is required.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Familiarity with Procore Construction Management Software (experience is a plus)

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5-10 years in a site management role within the commercial construction industry
  • Prior experience in medical, educational, or hospitality projects is preferred
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and job sites simultaneously, while coordinating with inspectors, subcontractors, architects, interior designers, engineers, city officials, and clients
  • Proactive management of project schedules and budgets
  • Negotiation skills with subcontractors to obtain reasonable costs (experience in project estimation is preferred)
  • Ability to prioritize, organize, and follow-up on multiple tasks and responsibilities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, projecting a positive attitude to effectively interact with clients, colleagues, subcontractors, vendors, and inspectors
  • Effective leadership, support, and motivation of subcontractor teams on various projects
  • Ability to clearly explain construction processes, provide direction, and answer questions from employees and subcontractors
  • Strong interpersonal skills for building relationships with all parties involved in the construction process, including the internal design team
  • Demonstrated time management skills and ability to meet deadlines
  • Proven ability to plan and anticipate project needs, identify potential schedule conflicts, and implement proactive and cost-effective solutions
  • Ability to read and interpret technical construction documents, as well as blueprints, finish schedules, submittals, and equipment specifications
  • This is a management position and does not require working knowledge of hand and power tools
