FPGA Engineer

The FPGA Engineer position is available at our client’s location in Fort George G Meade, MD. The client is seeking a dedicated team player who thrives in a mission-oriented environment. The candidate should possess excellent communication skills and be comfortable collaborating with multiple teams throughout the design process.
We are currently hiring FPGA design engineers with a strong emphasis on ASIC or FPGA design, development, and verification using Verilog, System Verilog, or VHDL. The design engineer will work closely with software and system engineers to conceptualize, document, design, code, verify, and debug ASIC, FPGA, and embedded firmware designs. The ideal candidate for this position should be adaptable, motivated, customer-oriented, capable of leading a small team, and eager to mentor others while also staying updated on new technologies.
Job Requirements:
● Must currently hold an active TS/SCI Clearance with Full-Scope Polygraph (FSP).
● Responsible for designing and testing new integrated circuits and hardware components for various applications and research purposes.
● Design, document, and develop firmware and code for hardware devices, including Application Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC) and Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) hardware.
● Analyze the functionality of existing integrated circuits and hardware components to reverse engineer the hardware and firmware.
● Modify and adapt vendor-made hardware as needed to meet specific requirements.
● Assist in the design, improvement, and maintenance of both new and existing products and processes.
● Collaborate with fellow engineering personnel to coordinate design activities and ensure project completion.
● Conduct design analysis on components and assemblies to optimize cost, manufacturability, and reliability.
● Familiarity with HDL simulators such as QuestaSim, ModelSim, Incisive, or other industry-standard simulators is required.
● The position is based onsite at Fort Meade, MD.
Education/Experience:
There are multiple openings for different levels of engineers, including Junior, Senior, Principal, and Sr. Principal Engineers. A minimum of three (3) years of experience as a Design Engineer in integrated circuit or microelectronic component design or reverse engineering is required. A bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering from an accredited college or university is also required. However, five (5) years of additional hardware design engineering experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree.
