Process Optimization Engineer

Job Description

Ensure that equipment meets or exceeds customer requirements with regards to safety, quality, adaptability and production capacity. Establish process parameters and procedural requirements creating audits and balances to enforce conformity. Develop, evaluate and implement continuous improvement concepts to meet long term customer mandated cost reductions and maintain profitability. This work encompasses all capital equipment and tooling for internal manufacturing systems.


  • Familiarize with and comprehend Quality and Environmental policies.
  • Execute miscellaneous assignments as necessary.

  • Prioritize safety by observing plant safety rules, wearing appropriate personal protective equipment, and addressing safety concerns promptly to maintain a zero injury environment.

  • Demonstrate core values by treating all team members fairly, respectfully, and without favoritism according to company values.
  • Participate in required meetings at various levels.
  • Conduct activities in a professional and positive manner, assuming personal responsibility and accountability.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and cost reduction efforts.
  • Establish, track and manage timeline planning.
  • Evaluate, track and control tooling and capital budgets.
  • Prepare presentations for engineering and management teams.
  • Visit customers/vendors to investigate quality concerns, tooling build process, and buyoffs.
  • Manage projects from start to finish.
  • Handle customer concerns.
  • Conduct cycle-time analysis and time studies to optimize production line balance.
  • Generate reports, charts and other necessary documentation for engineering records and projects.
  • Participate in ISO14001 and ISO/TS16949 activities, such as PFMEA and APQP incentives.
  • Execute work with safety, organization, effectiveness, efficiency, and proactivity.
  • Assist in developing material handling logistics.
  • Provide support for training on new equipment or processes.
  • Coordinate and assist in activities to meet customer quality requirements.
  • Support preventative and predictive maintenance efforts.
  • Coordinate actions to address quality issues.
  • Assist with Special Material Runs and Service Part requirements.
  • Follow FEC procedure with outlined responsibilities.
  • Provide input on product design based on manufacturability.

Education and/or Experience:
High School diploma or GED
Preferably has post-secondary Engineering education or equivalent experience

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
At least 1 year of manufacturing experience preferred
At least 1 year of troubleshooting, repairing and improving systems preferred
Able to operate standard office equipment preferred

Physical Demands:
Office and general factory environment
Flexible working hours to meet customer requirements (scheduled and non-scheduled overtime shifts, etc.)
Possible shift work
Able to sit and stand for extended periods of time, and occasionally bend and stoop
