Equipment Design Specialist


Position Title: Equipment Design Specialist

Tasks includes but not limited to:

  • Extract requirements from client/business (IRAD) requirements/requests
  • Create flow down requirements for components, suppliers, or other areas of expertise
  • Offer technical advice and assistance to electrical, software, firmware, and mechanical engineers
  • Produce and maintain high-level documentation, such as block diagrams, acceptance test procedures (ATPs), interface documents, analysis reports, and user manuals.
  • Perform system integration and testing in the laboratory, including test configuration setup and utilization of electrical testing equipment (oscilloscopes, DMMs, programmable instruments, etc)
  • Conduct system level ATPs in the lab, at external test centers, and/or at client locations
  • Collaborate closely with Senior Systems Engineer and Director of Engineering to ensure system design aligns with architecture
  • Support technical reviews by creating presentations, attending meetings, and/or delivering presentations (Kick Off Meeting, Systems Requirements Review, System Design Review, Preliminary Design Review, Critical Design Review, Prototype Manufacturing Readiness Review, Test Readiness Review and Production Readiness Review)
  • Effectively communicate issues and possible solutions to all stakeholders, both internally and externally


  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Preferably 5 – 10 years of experience in a highly technical research and development, engineering and/or manufacturing environments or equivalent
  • Demonstrated expertise in the development and/or analysis of engineering applications (electrical, mechanical, hardware, firmware, software, etc.)
  • Experience working in a lab with electrical testing equipment such as AC/DC sources, signal generators, programmable loads, oscilloscopes, power meters, multimeters, etc.
  • At least 3-5 years of involvement in leading technical projects
  • Demonstrated experience in leading multi-disciplinary teams to meet client requirements and company goals
  • Proficient in customer interaction and building relationships based on technical understanding and mission objectives
  • Skilled in using Microsoft Office suite (Teams, PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Visio, and Project)
  • Experience in model-based system engineering is advantageous
  • Experience collaborating with various disciplines including electronics, mechanical, software, and management
  • Experience in imaging processing, power management, aerospace, defense, or medical products
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering or relevant field (electrical engineering, computer science, applied physics, or applied mathematics)
