RF and Communications Engineer

Job Description

– Collaborate with the comms lead to develop the communication framework for the Clients (UAS)

– Lead the selection of RF subsystem equipment to execute the chosen framework

– Conduct link budget calculations for LOS and BLOS datalinks

– Work with network and software engineers to integrate RF subsystem equipment into the UAS

– Test the RF subsystem in both lab and field settings

– Oversee the installation of equipment in the aircraft and ground control station

– Manage the life cycle of requirements for the RF subsystem

– Supervise RF analysis and electromagnetic simulations

– Coordinate with equipment suppliers and subcontractors

Required Qualifications

– Degree in Telecommunications, Electrical, or Electronic Engineering

– Extensive knowledge of integrating and testing RF datalinks and radios

– Experience with RF instrumentation

– Familiarity with antennas

– Strong analytical and communication skills

– Demonstrated expertise in systems engineering

Preferred Qualifications

– Experience with UAS

– Working knowledge of aircraft equipment installation

– Experience with satellite communications equipment

– Knowledge of digital communications and MIMO

– Some experience in electromagnetic simulation

– Understanding of network architectures and protocols
