Lead Power Systems Engineer

The Lead Power Systems Engineer will oversee the electrical design of various projects, including power, process, corporate, healthcare, pipeline, airports, institutional, industrial, manufacturing, government, and military facilities. They will manage the project team throughout the design and construction process, adapting plans based on budget, design factors, and client requirements.

  • Manage the electrical design of projects from conceptual phase to completion, meeting project needs and requirements set by project managers.
  • Prepare specifications and data sheets for electrical equipment, as well as RFQ’s, bid summaries, and purchase recommendations.
  • Review vendor drawings and collaborate with suppliers, clients, and other engineering disciplines.
  • Assist in developing project schedules, scopes, budgets, and construction plans. Responsible for managing change orders effectively.
  • Apply extensive knowledge of electrical concepts, practices, codes, and procedures in the industry.
  • Utilize expertise to find unique design solutions for complex projects.
  • Review production drawings and project data to ensure accuracy within CAD software.
  • Oversee construction administration, including coordination with field personnel to address design-related issues and perform inspections and tests of electrical systems.
  • Lead field inspections, installations, measurements, and calculations for clients.
  • Prepare and present technical reports to clients and industry publications.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with clients, customers, and contractors. Identify new business opportunities and prioritize customer satisfaction goals.
  • Participate in sales and marketing efforts, contributing to key pursuits.
  • Lead the development of cost proposals and qualification statements to meet financial targets.
  • Create and present project budgets, cost estimates, and performance reports.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and instruction to the electrical engineering practice. Mentor junior engineers.
  • Ensure adherence to QA/QC processes.
  • Communicate effectively with other engineering disciplines.
  • Maintain compliance with company and site safety policies.
  • Perform any other assigned duties.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field from an ABET-accredited program.
  • Alternatively, a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or related Engineering Technology from an ABET-accredited program and successful completion of the FE exam.
  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering is a plus.
  • 7 years of experience in electrical engineering, with preferred experience in EPC projects.
  • Professional Engineering License (PE) is preferred.
  • Expert knowledge of engineering techniques and procedures.
  • Familiarity with ANSI and IEEE Standards for electrical equipment design. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience leading discipline design for large projects and delegating tasks to team members. Ability to resolve issues in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking skills and ability to solve quantitative problems.
  • Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to review engineering documents and specifications for quality assurance.
  • Willingness to travel.
