Position: Millwork Estimator-Purchaser
Location: Chatsworth, CA
Job Summary:
We are currently seeking a skilled Estimator and Purchasing Agent to join our client’s team. In this role, you will be responsible for interpreting custom cabinetry and millwork plans, developing accurate project bid proposals, and procuring the necessary materials for project execution. You will collaborate closely with architects, designers, and general contractors to ensure seamless project coordination. Additionally, you will manage material purchasing, track inventory, and maintain clear communication channels to facilitate efficient project delivery.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Analyze and interpret architectural plans to create comprehensive project bid proposals, including detailed breakdowns of material and labor costs.
  • Source specified materials and find solutions for unique project requirements using internet resources.
  • Manage material procurement through a purchase order system, ensuring accurate tracking and documentation for accounting and field management purposes.
  • Maintain effective communication with general contractors, architects, and designers to address project needs and requirements.
  • Create and manage spreadsheets for estimating, takeoffs, change orders, and material tracking using Microsoft Excel.
  • Apply a solid understanding of finish carpentry, millwork engineering, and construction practices to effectively communicate with field foremen and shop personnel.
  • Implement an Excel-based system to track cabinet installation field labor and monitor progress.
  • Oversee material allocations for each project to ensure efficient inventory control and resource management.
  • Previous experience in estimating and/or purchasing within the millwork industry is required.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting custom cabinetry and millwork plans.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively liaise with various stakeholders.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel for spreadsheet management.
  • Understanding of finish carpentry, millwork engineering, and construction practices.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field preferred.
