  • Location: Geneva, NY (Finger Lakes Region of NYS)
  • Under the supervision of a physician, applies principles, methods and procedures for managing athletic injuries, including the conditioning and rehabilitation of individuals who have suffered from athletic injuries through the use of appropriate preventative and supportive devices. Provides instruction to coaches, athletes, parents, medical personnel, and communicates in the area of care and prevention of athletic injuries. This individual will work in school systems and in a physician or hospital clinic to support patient care. The Athletic Trainer will provide coverage to sporting events as determined by the Health System contract and the organization’s schedule.
  • Minimum:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Sports Medicine or a related program
  • Preferred:
  • Master’s Degree in Athletic Training
    • Minimum:
    • Registered and Licensed as a Certified Athletic Trainer in NYS
    • Minimum:
    • NATABOC Certification
    • Current BLS Certification required through the RQI system during clinical orientation
    • Minimum:
    • 21 years of age or older (according to NYS Regulations)
    • Preferred:
    • 1-2 years of experience as an Athletic Trainer in a high school or physician practice setting
    • Minimum:
      • Demonstrated leadership abilities
      • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with discretion and deal with the public in a professional and courteous manner
      • Ability to meet deadlines, manage multiple priorities, and enhance teamwork through effective role modeling
      • Must demonstrate flexibility in work sites, schedules, duties, etc., and have the ability to work efficiently and effectively independently
      • Exceptional communication and customer service skills
      • Computer literacy required with word processing, spreadsheets, and power point
    • Preferred:
      • Experience with Microsoft Office products including word, excel, and power point
Geneva is a city in New York State, located in Ontario and Seneca counties. It is situated at the northern end of Seneca Lake, part of the Finger Lakes Region. The region offers quality wine trails, a rich history, natural beauty, and attractions for all seasons. In nearby Cayuga Lake, the city of Ithaca is home to Cornell University. The surrounding area features high gorges, many with stunning waterfalls such as Taughannock Falls and Buttermilk Falls.
Watkins Glen State Park, close to the tip of Seneca Lake, is known for its rocky cliffs and cascading waterfalls, as well as trout fishing. Southwest of Geneva is the Corning Museum of Glass. Seneca Falls is home to the Women’s Rights National Historical Park, marking the site of the 1848 women’s rights convention. To the north, the Old Erie Canal offers hiking, canoeing, and fishing opportunities in the scenic northwest where the city of Rochester overlooks Lake Ontario.
