Job Summary:

We are seeking a Senior Energy Engineer to lead project teams and oversee the implementation of energy conservation projects. This role requires expert knowledge and skills in energy engineering solutions, with a strong understanding of central plants, co-generation, lighting, HVAC, building automation, building envelope, and renewable energy systems in commercial buildings.


  • Develop energy conservation projects with a high level of accuracy and productivity
  • Collaborate with internal and external resources, including mechanical and electrical engineers, project managers, estimators, energy auditors, and automation engineers
  • Effectively communicate technical information to customers regarding facility improvements and efficiency opportunities
  • Conduct field energy surveys and maintain productive relationships with customers
  • Analyze utility data and use the findings for project development
  • Support the sales team in developing and delivering presentations
  • Provide project details and requirements for proposal development
  • Create reports and spreadsheets to present solutions
  • Collaborate with project managers and estimators on project costs
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with team members, co-workers, executive leadership, customers, vendors, and other external contacts
  • Create realistic and achievable savings calculations and refine as needed
  • Lead or provide technical support for audits when assigned
  • Increase productivity and accuracy by streamlining work efforts
  • Stay updated on existing and emerging technologies
  • Maintain relevant certifications
  • Provide support for special projects assigned by managers

Supervisor Responsibilities:

  • Oversee, direct, and evaluate the work of assigned Energy Engineers
  • Responsible for hiring, training, and performance management


  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
  • Minimum of five years of engineering experience, including knowledge of energy systems, energy efficiency, renewable energy, and sustainable practices
  • Prior experience leading a team or project
  • E.M. certification and Professional Engineer status are preferred
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Willingness to travel

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Excellent technical knowledge of energy efficiency practices and programs
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite and Adobe PDF; exceptional skills in Excel
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written, including the ability to prepare professional written communications
  • Effective interpersonal skills with diverse individuals
  • Highly collaborative and dedicated to sharing details with team members
  • Self-managing and able to work autonomously or in a team
  • Demonstrates persistence and innovation in approaching challenges
  • Operates at a high level of speed and productivity
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage own schedule
  • Excellent analytical and mathematic skills
  • Professional, tactful, and maintains satisfactory attendance

Working Conditions:

This role primarily operates in a professional office environment and utilizes standard office equipment. Travel to business appointments and job sites is required, including some overnight stays. The role also involves walking buildings and mechanical rooms throughout the year and visually inspecting equipment with proper training and safety measures.

  • Must be able to drive and have access to reliable transportation
  • Travel may involve car or commercial airplane
  • Physical demands include standing, walking, sitting, handling objects, climbing stairs, reaching, kneeling, stooping, and talking or hearing. Occasionally lift or move office products and supplies up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
