Millwork Project Manager

Our client is a manufacturer of custom woodwork based in St Louis, MO, providing high-quality fixtures and furnishings to prestigious clients worldwide.
Remote or hybrid work options are available, but candidates must live within 200 miles of St Louis, MO. Regular travel to the office will be required.
Experience Required: We are seeking candidates with experience as a Project Manager, Account Manager, or Shop Foreman in one of the following industries: architectural millwork, architectural metalwork, retail store fixtures, point of purchase (POP) display, or exhibit industry.

Job Summary:

The Millwork Project Manager is responsible for overseeing the successful execution of assigned projects. This role typically involves managing larger and more complex customer accounts, as well as multiple accounts and junior project assistants. Responsibilities include coordinating with customers on design definition, value engineering, prototyping, manufacturing, delivery, installation, and ongoing customer service. The Project Manager will provide leadership and coordination for all project activities, ensuring the highest level of service and contributing to sales growth.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Create project scope and manage customer expectations, effectively communicating with internal teams.
  • Collaborate with customers to identify cost optimization opportunities while maintaining quality standards.
  • Ensure that product engineering aligns with customer requirements and industry standards.
  • Develop comprehensive project timelines, monitor progress, and implement corrective actions as necessary.
  • Participate in prototype development and review processes to align with project goals.
  • Monitor production processes and costs, identify areas for improvement, and implement corrective measures.
  • Lead initiatives to enhance gross margin through cost savings, price increases, and value engineering.
  • Provide shipping instructions and oversee site offload conditions where applicable.
  • Facilitate customer inventory reports and manage inventory to minimize risks of obsolescence.
  • Coordinate outsourcing of production and services as needed to meet production demands.
  • Offer technical support to Sales and Estimating teams as required.
  • Conduct site visits to manufacturing locations to review new products and ensure quality standards.
  • Provide monthly sales forecasts for assigned customers, collaborating with Sales teams as necessary.

Requirements:

  • 4+ years of experience in a project or account manager role within the store fixture, point of purchase (POP), or exhibit industry.
  • Candidates with experience as a millwork or metalwork shop foreman will also be considered.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or business preferred.
  • Understanding of Material Requirements Planning (MRP) fundamentals preferred.
  • Ability to travel nationwide and occasionally internationally, 20-30 days per year. Must have a valid Passport.
  • Extensive experience supporting customer initiatives, with a proven track record of high customer satisfaction.
  • High-level technical expertise, including support for new design and value engineering efforts.
  • Proficiency in creating and maintaining computer spreadsheets.
  • Strong multitasking and problem-solving skills, with excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
