Lead Firmware Developer

THE POSITION

Our company is in need of a full-time Lead Firmware Developer located in Los Angeles, CA. The successful candidate will report to the Director of Software Engineering and be a part of the Software Engineering team. This role will involve working on various research projects and contributing to the development of our client’s radios. The responsibilities will include tasks such as developing device drivers, implementing networking functions and services, ensuring data encryption, and enhancing security features. This is a hybrid position that requires a minimum of 3 onsite days per week, scheduled on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.

Below are some of the key responsibilities associated with this position. Please note that duties and responsibilities may change at the discretion of management.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

– Developing MAC (Medium Access Control) and mobile ad-hoc networking routing protocols within firmware;

– Creating network management software and web interfaces;

– Implementing various security protocols and encryption algorithms;

– Developing audio streaming and push to talk voice applications;

– Analyzing and enhancing product security to meet regulatory requirements;

– Creating software for product performance and reliability testing;

– Developing device drivers and board support packages;

– Customizing and scripting Linux systems.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

– Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or relevant fields;

– Minimum of 5 years of experience in embedded system software development;

– Proficiency in C programming and Linux kernel driver development;

PREFERRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

– Familiarity with various security protocols and encryption algorithms;

– Experience in socket programming and Internet/Ethernet protocols;

– Understanding of MAC and Networking layer of communication systems;

– Proficiency in AMD UltraScale+, MPSoC, and Microchip Polarfire SoC BSP support package development;

– Knowledge of IPsec (Internet Protocol Security);

– Experience in Linux Interrupt Service Routine development.

$135,000 – $200,000 per year

The salary range is based on market research and will vary depending on the candidate’s qualifications and experience.

NOTE – This position is open only to U.S. Citizens due to our client’s government contracts. Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a background check.
