Electro-Design Engineer


Electro-Design Engineers contribute to the successful completion of projects by utilizing their expertise in design to accomplish technical engineering tasks and deliver customer solutions. This role requires an individual who is a critical thinker and problem solver, capable of developing electrical diagrams with varying levels of efficiency and elegance. They must also have the ability to locate and correct mistakes found in electrical diagrams. Electro-Design Engineers work under minimal supervision.


· Manage the design, planning, organization, control, integration, and completion of engineering projects within an assignment.

· Analyze engineering schematics, specifications, and related data and drawings to determine design factors.

· Create accurate and thoroughly self-verified electrical device and panel layouts, motor, control, I/O schematics, and bill of materials.

· Review designs for compliance with engineering specifications, company standards, customer contract requirements, and related specifications.

· Provide project support to field engineers, project managers, purchasing, and panel fabricators.

· Evaluate and approve design changes, specifications, and drawing releases.

· Utilize computer-assisted design/drafting equipment and software to develop designs.

· Communicate task completion status with the project team.

· Design and develop detailed layouts for electrical circuits, power distribution systems, industrial control panels, and industrial network architectures based on examples and experience.

· Collaborate extensively with customers to provide support and make design modifications as needed to support project requirements.

· Supervise the work of others to oversee the production of detailed schematics.

· Perform other responsibilities as needed.


· Proficient in reading and understanding written specifications, contract drawings, and developing complete designs that meet requirements within electrical design standards and project quotations.

· Willingness to travel to customer facilities as needed and work non-business hours based on project and customer needs.

· Extensive knowledge of electrical equipment and local building codes such as UL508A, NEC, and NFPA. In-depth understanding of concepts, practices, and procedures related to electrical design.

· Detail-oriented, organized, and capable of performing reliable, accurate, and thoroughly self-verified work.


· Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a related area; relevant experience will be considered in lieu of education.

· 5+ years of relevant experience

· Expert level knowledge of AutoCad is required

· Expert level knowledge of Excel is required

Experience in the following Preferred:

· Autocad Electrical

· HMI graphics

· PLC programming experience

· Networking experience

· Managing a team

· Legally authorized to work in the United States

· Must be able to be approved for an airport security badge


· Combination of office and job site settings

· Collaborative, engaging, and success-driven culture

· Some travel required

· Sitting for prolonged periods of time when in office

· Standing and walking for prolonged periods of time when at a jobsite

· Climbing may be required when working at a jobsite

· Repetitive typing/data entry

· Lifting up to 10 pounds


This position offers a flexible work schedule. General office hours are Monday to Friday, 7am to 4pm or 8am to 5pm. Working hours may vary when at a job site to meet project requirements.
