  2. Registered Therapeutic Activity Specialist certification required.
  3. Valid Occupational Therapy license for the state is mandatory.
Responsibilities –
  • Begin therapeutic activity treatments according to physician orders; maintain regular communication with physicians.

  • Record evaluations, progress notes, MDS records, and discharge summaries for residents participating in the therapy program.

  • Collaborate with other healthcare staff to address the unique needs of residents and enhance rehabilitation or functional maintenance.

  • Participate in Resident Care Planning meetings and substitute for the Director of Occupational Therapy when absent.

  • Maintain statistical records of residents’ treatments.

  • Assist in conducting in-service training programs as requested.

  • Update and maintain residents’ care plans.

Qualifications –

  • Graduation from an approved occupational therapy school is required.

  • State license to practice occupational therapy is necessary.

  • Preferably, two years of occupational therapy experience.

  • Interest in therapeutic activity treatment programs for the elderly and subacute populations using a collaborative approach.

  • Ability to lead and direct others is essential.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are required.

  • Maturity, diplomacy, and ability to work well in a team setting are important qualities.

  • Sense of responsibility and ability to establish rapport with residents, families, and colleagues are necessary.

  • Capability to work compassionately and effectively with geriatric and chronically ill residents and other professionals.

  • Ability to consistently perform tasks to high standards of excellence.

  • This role requires regular interaction with residents, coworkers, visitors, and supervisors. To maintain a safe work environment and facilitate communication, the employee must have intermediate or advanced proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English.
