Position: Construction Design Specialist
Location: Albuquerque, NM
Our client is in search of a Structural Engineer to join our Structural Engineering Group at our Albuquerque, New Mexico office. This opportunity offers involvement in a variety of projects that encompass different structural materials, focusing primarily on the design of new building structures. There may also be chances to gain experience in analyzing existing buildings and designing renovations.
A typical workweek entails performing engineering calculations, developing drawings, attending client meetings, managing construction administration tasks, and conducting site visits. While most projects are situated in the New Mexico and Rocky Mountain Region, occasional national travel may be required. This position encourages collaboration with owners, architects, and contractors, providing opportunities to engage in marketing activities.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The following responsibilities are representative of the role:
- Possess a strong understanding of building and material codes and apply them effectively.
- Create project documentation of the highest quality using computer design and graphics software programs.
- Support the Project Manager in tasks related to construction administration, such as reviewing shop drawings, conducting field observations, and responding to Requests for Information.
- Actively pursue personal and professional development by researching code requirements, asking insightful questions, conducting reference research, and attending technical training seminars.
- Engage collaboratively with colleagues to provide outstanding engineering solutions.
- Build rapport and inspire confidence in clients through excellent communication skills and the delivery of quality engineering work.
- Develop project management skills under the guidance of a Project Manager.
- Assist in mentoring less-experienced engineers.

Requirements:
Required Qualifications:
- Registered Professional Engineer credential
- Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of four years (or Master’s degree with a minimum of three years) of progressive civil or structural engineering experience
Desired Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Civil or Architectural Engineering with a focus on Structures
- Ability to instill confidence through effective communication and technical skills
- Capability to design, detail, coordinate, and manage small to medium-sized projects within designated timeframes and budgets
- Experience in overseeing multiple engineering projects from the design phase to completion of construction
- Demonstrated time management skills for efficient project planning and execution
- Strong commitment to continuous personal growth and development in all aspects of work
- Active membership in professional and/or technical societies
- Regular attendance at training sessions to enhance knowledge of consulting engineering practices
- Holding a PE license in the state of New Mexico is highly desirable
