Fire Engineer

Job Summary

The position of Fire Engineer is open in Los Angeles, CA. Join our team of fire protection professionals who specialize in various projects, such as airports, manufacturing plants, information technology facilities, and more. This role requires interaction with clients and peers in a collaborative work environment.


  • Create construction drawings using various software tools like AutoCAD, Microstation, and Revit.

  • Prepare comprehensive fire protection packages including fire suppression, fire alarm, smoke evacuation, and life safety systems. Conduct fire protection calculations and develop specifications.

  • Design, coordinate, and specify different fire suppression systems for diverse project types, including wet-pipe, dry-pipe, preaction, deluge, and fire pumps.

  • Design, coordinate, and specify fire alarm systems, mass notification systems, and releasing systems. Familiarize yourself with various releasing methods and detection techniques.

  • Utilize fire protection engineering principles to troubleshoot and resolve client-related issues.

  • Perform site evaluations and document existing fire protection systems. Support field personnel by resolving design-related installation issues.

  • Review contractor shop drawings, conduct field inspections, and analyze testing and commissioning reports.


  • Hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Fire Protection Technology or a related field, along with at least 3 years of relevant experience. Alternatively, possess an Associate’s Degree in a related field with 7 years of experience, or 8 years of related experience.

  • Ability to obtain NICET Level II certification in Water-Based System Layout, Fire Alarm Systems, or Special Hazard Systems within one year of employment.

  • Able to obtain and maintain access authorization to facilities and data of existing and potential clients.

  • Familiarity with building codes, fire codes, NFPA standards, FM Global datasheets, military standards, and refinery/industrial API guidelines is preferred.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • Highly motivated self-starter with keen attention to detail and the ability to prioritize work in a fast-paced environment.

  • Experience with Revit is preferred, and willingness to learn new software is required.

  • Capable of adapting and modifying standard techniques, procedures, or criteria to solve challenging problems.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, taking direction from individuals at all levels in the organization.

Compensation Range

$105,000 – $150,000
