Salary Range:$90,000.00 To 140,000.00 Annually

Position Summary:

The Control System Engineer is responsible for leading, delivering, developing, and implementing control system projects. The CSE designs and specifies DCS/Logic Solver PLC components and networking requirements, develops functional narratives and system specifications, and prepares related documents. The CSE also participates in troubleshooting and root cause analysis for control system issues.

Education:

The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field. Equivalent combination of education and work experience is also acceptable.

Registration as a Professional Engineer is preferred but not required.

Key Attributes:

  • The CSE participates in engineering/designing and selecting control systems for projects of various sizes.
  • The CSE is responsible for engineering, designing, and selecting control systems.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to conceptualize and detail the system philosophy for large projects.
  • Implements company standards, procedures, and tools.
  • Must adhere to all client and safety policies.

Core Competencies:

  • The CSE has technical responsibility for interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating assignments.
  • The CSE performs specialized technical work, which may involve the development of systems engineering, distributive and/or computer controls of processes.
  • Establishes basic design and specifications for control systems and associated instrumentation.
  • Implements control concepts as required.
  • Keeps the Project Leads/Manager informed of scope changes and design deviations.
  • Participates in the overall control system design work, including installation drawings and details, loops drawings, logic diagrams, and vendor drawings.
  • DCS:
    1. DCS graphics, database, and configuration (Honeywell preferred, plus others)
    2. Familiarity with P&IDs, Logic Diagrams, Cause / Effect matrices, and Functional Narratives
    3. Test procedure development
    4. Cutovers/loop checks
    5. Startup assistance/troubleshooting
    6. Operations/maintenance training
  • PLC / HMI Programming:
    1. PLC programming (Allen Bradley CLX and PLC5 preferred, plus others)
    2. HMI programming (PanelView and RSView preferred, plus others)
    3. Familiarity with P&IDs, Logic Diagrams, Cause / Effect matrices, and Functional Narratives
    4. Test procedure development
    5. Cutovers/loop checks
    6. Startup assistance/troubleshooting
    7. Operations/maintenance training
  • Safety System Logic Solvers
    1. Logic Solver programming (Triconex Platform preferred, plus others)
    2. Logic Validation Software programming (Schneider Safety Validator preferred, plus others)
    3. Familiarity with P&ID’s, Logic Diagrams, Cause / Effect matrices, and Functional Narratives
    4. Test procedure development
    5. Cutovers/loop checks
    6. Startup assistance/troubleshooting
    7. Operations/maintenance training
