Multi-Site Safety Manager

Position Summary:
The Multi-Site Safety Manager is responsible for developing and executing programs to minimize work-related injuries, illnesses, fatalities, and financial losses. This role involves identifying and evaluating potential hazards, developing accident-prevention systems, and coordinating safety activities across multiple facilities. The Safety Manager will analyze statistical data on occupational illnesses and accidents and collaborate with external organizations to ensure information exchange and mutual assistance. Additionally, this role will lead continuous improvement efforts to achieve the goal of sending every employee home injury-free.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
      – Collaborate with company leaders to create and implement strategic initiatives aligned with the organization’s vision.
      – Improve safety and environmental performance at three manufacturing locations and one corporate site.
      – Communicate the vision to all levels of the organization and engage employees in achieving it.
      – Drive culture change activities and develop tools to promote and sustain an injury-free work environment.
      – Establish corporate safety policies and standards.
      – Build proactive relationships with regulatory agencies such as OSHA, EPA, and DNR.
      – Mentor supervisors and enhance their understanding of effective communication and activities necessary for a safe work environment.
      – Conduct regular safety and environmental audits.
      – Lead safety continuous improvement teams and projects.
      – Manage incident investigations and ensure timely completion of corrective actions.
      – Maintain safety and environmental documentation and submit reports to regulatory agencies.
      – Deliver training and presentations internally and externally.
      – Establish and monitor leading safety performance indicators and communicate them to employees.
      – Develop relationships with medical care providers and emergency response organizations for optimal employee care.
      – Oversee the drug and alcohol testing program as well as the worker’s compensation and return to work processes.
      – Lead emergency response actions for various scenarios.

      – This position is available for on-call availability during emergency incidents.
Qualifications:
– A Bachelor of Science degree is required, with a specialization in occupational safety or equivalent experience.
– Preferred: Post-graduate degree in safety, business, environmental science, or related field.
– Minimum of 7 years of experience in a leadership role focused on plant and corporate safety culture.
– Certification as a Safety Professional (CSP) and/or Certified Utility Safety Administrator (CUSA).
– Familiarity with Strategic Prevention Framework (SPF), National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES), Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), and Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP).
– Strong knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and EPA standards, regulations, and guidelines.
– Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly PowerPoint and Excel.
– Excellent public speaking and interpersonal communication skills.
– Understanding of plant-level safe work practices and procedures.
– Willingness to actively engage in the shop environment.
– Demonstrates a self-motivated attitude and consistently completes projects on time.
