Process Engineer
Create a high-performance work environment by actively engaging with floor technicians, providing coaching to enhance problem-solving skills, decision-making abilities, and self-reliance. Efficiently organize and prioritize initiatives in collaboration with plant leadership to successfully achieve master plan objectives and long-term vision. Continuously develop and expand knowledge and expertise in Operations and Supply Chain by establishing a strong foundation in product manufacturing and work system functionality.

Location: Memphis, TN

Work Arrangements: 100% on-site
• Willingness to accommodate flexible work schedule to meet business requirements (i.e., off shift, nights, weekends, holidays, etc.)
• Willingness to travel for Factory Acceptance Tests
(Travel may involve domestic or international destinations, typically 1-2 times per year)

Responsibilities include:

  • Attain expert-level comprehension of the manufacturing process, mechanical operations, instrumentation, and product specifications pertaining to the designated line/area. Provide technical assistance and support to the line/area teams. Offer guidance to engineers, operating teams, and leadership in identifying the root causes of issues and implementing effective solutions.
  • Improve safety, quality, and productivity on an overall basis by eliminating defects, identifying and executing loss-saving initiatives, and building the capabilities of the operating teams.
  • Take ownership of the Commissioning, Qualification and Verification (CQV) process for new projects. Serve as a primary point of contact and key organizational leader between the engineering and operations teams to ensure their full involvement throughout project execution and a seamless transition during turnover to operations.
  • Address performance gaps in the line/area through the implementation of the company’s Continuous Improvement methodologies. Foster a zero-loss culture among the teams.
  • Actively participate in training and qualification programs designated for the line/area. Contribute to assessments, facilitate effective training, and uphold consistent qualification standards.
  • Maintain responsibility for reliability and quality data related to the designated line/area in the Proficy plant applications software. Seek continuous improvement in methods for collecting accurate data.
  • Demonstrate efficient interpersonal skills and effective time and resource management abilities to successfully complete project assignments.

Requirements:

Minimum:

  • Four-year college or university degree in engineering.
  • At least two years of experience in a manufacturing setting.
  • Demonstrated self-motivation and ability to perform well with minimal direct supervision.
  • Strong aptitude for learning technical processes and systems.

Additional skills and experience that can contribute to success in this role:

  • Degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience in electrical controls/PLC.
  • Prior involvement in the food manufacturing industry.
  • Proficiency in project management and technical problem-solving.
  • Demonstrated use of formal problem-solving methodologies.
  • Ability to collaborate and influence within a team-oriented environment.
