NICET level II to IV certification required. Must have a minimum of 5 years of experience. Must be local and able to work in the office at least part time.
Senior Sprinkler Engineer
Job Summary:
Utilize CAD tools to create standard designs for fire sprinkler systems, including detailed drawings, assembly drawings, sketches, and diagrams. Ensure that all necessary views and dimensions are included for effective field installation. Create submittals, obtain permits, and adhere to project schedules. Demonstrates knowledge of design techniques, fire sprinkler terminology, mechanical skills, and the ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • Generate shop drawings, hydraulic calculations, and stock lists to meet NFPA, local, and state code requirements, project specifications, and ensure efficient and cost-effective field installation.
  • Conduct accurate field surveys when necessary.
  • Coordinate with the MEP team and General Contractors to align shop drawings.
  • Prepare submittal packages for approval from AHJ, contractors, etc.
Project Management:
  • Procure materials, review draft change orders, generate RFIs, and maintain project schedules.
  • Communicate with field personnel, AHJs, customers, sales representatives, and field superintendents.
  • Take full responsibility for approvals, material procurement, coordination, and adherence to schedule.
  • Attend all project-related meetings.
  • Perform any other assigned job duties as required.
Key Skills:
  • Ability to interpret construction documents, such as drawings, specifications, and ASIs.
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and Fire Sprinkler Design software (e.g., AutoSPRINK, HydraCAD).
  • Knowledge of hydraulic calculations, stocklisting, project design, and project management.
  • Practical experience in designing Wet, Dry, and Pre Action Sprinkler Systems.
  • Familiarity with general construction practices and terms.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work in a team environment.
  • Working knowledge of NFPA 13, 13D, 13R, 14, 20, and associated Codes/Standards.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Fire Protection Design.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Fire Sprinkler Design Software.
  • Experience with Revit, NavisWorks, and AutoSPRINK is a plus.
  • NICET level II or higher.
