Power Systems Engineer

Applicants must possess a 4-year degree in Electrical Engineering. Additionally, a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience is required.

As a Power Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for devising programs and designing and developing electrical, electronic, and electro-mechanical subsystems and components for our top-notch laundry products and services. You will contribute to a collaborative Sustaining Engineering team that closely aligns with an internal customer group.

Roles and Duties:

  • Create, construct, and test electrical, electronic, and electro-mechanical subsystems and components that satisfy project requirements.
  • Generate comprehensive design specifications, develop testing plans, and devise test specifications for assessing electrical components and subsystems, such as motors, transformers, contactors, drives, relays, switches, heaters, and sensors.
  • Prepare drawings for electrical components and systems.
  • Develop schematics and wiring diagrams utilizing AutoCAD, Creo, and PADS.
  • Establish and outline testing specifications for electrical and electronic controls.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and internal colleagues in the development of subsystems and components.
  • Comprehend and design subsystems and components in accordance with marketing specifications and regulatory agencies, while considering full system design.
  • Provide support to production as needed, participating in quality improvements (QIs), continuous improvements (CIs), and problem-solving activities.
  • Specify new components for new designs and oversee their development, design, and implementation into production.
  • Specify new microcontrollers for use in new designs and identify the necessary development tools for these devices.

Education and Experience:

  • A Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology is required.
  • Preferably 5 to 10 years of experience in Electrical Engineering, specifically in a manufacturing setting.
  • Proficiency in software programming languages such as assembly, C, or higher level languages for microcontroller-based electronic controls.
  • Prior experience in writing technical reports.
  • Motor drive experience is highly desirable.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to utilize logical and scientific thinking to define problems, gather data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Strong knowledge of engineering design software and equipment.
  • Proficiency in software programming languages such as assembly, C, or higher level languages for microcontroller-based electronic controls.
  • Ability to write technical reports and complete documentation within specified timeframes.
  • Ability to remain composed in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Attention to detail while remaining connected to the larger project goals and outcomes.
  • Excellent communication, decision-making, and organizational skills.
  • Self-motivated and willing to be hands-on.
