Chemical Plant Manager

Required Qualifications:

Must have experience in overseeing production processes and operations in the food, pharmaceutical, or high purity chemical industries.

Site Operations Manager – Southern Missouri
  • Manage and ensure compliance with safety, health, and regulatory programs in partnership with the EH&S Coordinator and Corporate EH&S leadership.
  • Direct and oversee plant operations including production, maintenance, logistics, warehouse, and planning.
  • Accountable for continuously improving the organization’s capabilities and achieving the plants’ and company’s policies and goals.
  • Ensure production schedules are appropriate and orders are met within lead times while maintaining proper finished goods inventories.
  • Prioritize resource allocation for maintenance, production, and projects, and participate in design reviews.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional groups.
  • Oversee food and feed safety working closely with the Quality Control Supervisor and Quality Assurance Manager.
  • Coordinate with the QA Manager to ensure compliance with industry and regulatory standards for quality and food safety.
  • Supervise multiple direct reports and conduct daily production meetings as needed.
  • Collaborate with the R&D and Commercial teams during production scale-up, validation, and customer trials.
  • Manage all expenditures, including both expense and capital, and forecast and meet current budget commitments.
  • Supervise the implementation of process, equipment, and facility capital projects.
  • Perform or direct incident investigations in the area of responsibility.
  • BS Degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering preferred with 10 years of experience, including 5+ years in production management in food, pharmaceutical, or high purity chemical manufacturing. Must have an understanding of basic chemistry principles.
  • Experience in production planning methodology.
  • Process Safety Management experience is required.
  • Experience in process optimization, managing small projects, and improving process capability.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with computers and various software applications.
  • Knowledge of advanced troubleshooting methods.
  • Ability to conduct effective on-the-job training.
  • Problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Previous experience with bargaining unit/union is preferred.
