Senior Controls Engineer

Location: Atlanta, GA

Responsible for providing support and expertise in facility electrical and automation controls. Oversees a team of technicians and focuses on developing their skills. We welcome candidates who are passionate about mentoring others, even if they lack specific management experience.


  • Optimize and maintain electrical and controls systems for facility and manufacturing equipment
  • Enhance manufacturing systems automation, man-machine interfaces, and industrial communications networks
  • Utilize tools such as RsNetworks, RsLogix 5, RsLogix 500, RsLogix 5000, RsLinks, Panel Builder 32, and Wonderware software
  • Provide troubleshooting and optimization support for daily operations needs
  • Handle materials handling systems (package and liquid), packaging equipment, processing equipment, printing and coding equipment, and more
  • Utilize advanced knowledge of power distribution systems to identify and resolve site problems while improving energy efficiency
  • Maintain an up-to-date electronic library of all software used in facility and manufacturing systems
  • Develop and update electrical and controls schematics and one-line diagrams using AutoCAD
  • Mentor and guide the site’s Controls Technicians
  • Troubleshoot and work with advanced controls devices like Servo, Servo amplifier, and Servo controllers
  • Design and implement customized Safety Solutions that comply with regulations and codes
  • Establish strong relationships with Corporate Engineering team to improve systems architecture and maximize manufacturing efficiencies and output
  • Ensure electrical systems meet applicable local, state, and national codes and standards (e.g. NFPA 70, NFPA70E, OSHA 1910)
  • Be flexible with work schedule based on requirements
  • Promote and maintain a strong safety culture
  • Perform other assigned duties

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Supervises a team of PLC Technicians.

Essential Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, an individual must possess the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree (B. S.) in electrical engineering, electrical engineering technology, or software engineering from an accredited college or university
  • Alternatively, an associate’s degree in the same field with relevant experience
  • Prior experience with industrial power, electrical, and controls systems
