Role Requirements:
– Completion of a Nurse Midwife program is a must.
– Minimum of two years experience in L&D is required.
– Current Texas licensure as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse and Certified Nurse Midwife is mandatory.
– Basic Life Support certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment, followed by Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification within 90 days of employment.
About the Position:
– This is a full-time role which requires taking call for seven days a month (with additional compensation for any extra days).
– Compensation ranges from $120K to $140K (plus RVU bonus) depending on experience.
– A comprehensive benefits package is included, along with a $1K CME allowance and $5K sign-on bonus.
– Under the general supervision of a Physician, the Midwifery Specialist (MS) is an Advanced Practice Nurse (APRN) responsible for managing and providing comprehensive women’s health care services encompassing pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum care, family planning, and gynecological needs.
– Patient care is provided in both clinic and hospital settings within an Obstetrics/Gynecology practice.
– The MS ensures excellent patient care by employing highly developed assessment, clinical, documentation, and analytical skills to create and implement appropriate care plans.
– Efficiently manages routine and complex clinic patients, while juggling various clinic demands throughout the day, in conjunction with hospital duties as part of a provider team.
– Effectively oversees the care of hospitalized patients, including antepartum, peripartum/laboring, and postpartum patients, with minimal supervision.
– Promotes timely and accurate documentation of care, lab sign-offs, and post-care patient communication to ensure optimal continuity of care and meet financial targets.
– Recognizes the need for escalating patient care to a Physician when urgent/emergent issues arise.
– Adheres to infection prevention and safety protocols.
– Actively participates in the evaluation of programs, process improvement initiatives, and client-centered outcomes.
– Nurtures individual professional growth and development through mandatory/continuing education, competence validation, and by serving as a preceptor, mentor, and resource to less experienced staff.
– Ensures department compliance with all regulatory standards through active participation in survey readiness activities.
What to Expect:
– The position is situated approximately one hour away from Houston.
– You will be joining a dynamic and growing team, which currently delivers around 20-25 babies per month. The goal is to double this number with the help of two OB/Gyns and a Midwife, as there is currently one OB/Gyn with more patients than they can manage.
– The facility is a 120-bed, accredited, not-for-profit acute care community hospital.
