Ammonia Tech

A well-established and renowned company based in Indianapolis, IN, operating in a plant environment, is currently seeking Ammonia Refrigeration Technicians for direct hire positions on the night shift. The company prides itself on having an energized and impactful culture.

Shift:

  • Night shift schedule from 6:15 PM to 6:45 AM
  • Work 4 days on, followed by 4 days off

Compensation:

  • Starting pay of $34 per hour plus shift differentials for night shifts. Additional compensation of $0.25 per hour for 2nd shift and $0.30 per hour for 3rd shift. Overtime pay at time and a half for any hours worked over 8 hours in a day. There are comprehensive company benefits and relocation assistance is available. For a 12-hour shift, the pay rate is $40.25 per hour including shift differentials.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

In order to excel in this role, the individual must be capable of satisfactorily performing each essential duty listed below.

Additional duties may be assigned as needed.

  • Adhere to company policies, procedures, and regulations regarding safety, PSM, environmental, SQF, and GMP
  • Demonstrate expertise and maintain high standards for work quality.
  • Operate, monitor, troubleshoot, test, adjust, and maintain the facility’s utility systems.
  • Successfully complete progressive Boiler and Ammonia Operator Training programs.
  • Effectively communicate (both written and verbal) in all aspects of daily work.
  • Troubleshoot equipment and processes to ensure steady-state operations and continuity across multiple shifts.
  • Support the weekly work order schedules established by the Facilities Maintenance Planner.
  • Utilize CMMS (SAP PM) for accurate documentation and tracking of work order hours and execution.
  • Collaborate with vendors and outside contractors for equipment maintenance and repairs as directed by the Facilities Maintenance Planner and Management.
  • Actively participate in daily shift change DDS and shutdown meetings.
  • Support Break-Down-Analysis (BDA) and 5S initiatives for assigned Facilities areas, actively engaging in continuous improvement activities through the company performance system.
  • Be available for overtime and/or flexible work hours when required, including weekends and holidays.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • At least 2 years of experience as a stationary engineer, industrial maintenance technician, commercial HVAC technician, or equivalent military experience
  • Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude, including demonstrated experience in troubleshooting and repairing electrical and mechanical equipment and systems
  • Must attend GCAP (or equivalent approved by Management) Boiler Tech 1 program and complete training within 6 months
  • Must attend GCAP (or equivalent approved by Management) Ammonia operator 1 program and obtain certification within 6 months
  • Must attend GCAP (or equivalent approved by Management) Ammonia operator 2 program and obtain certification within 12 months

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time
  • High degree of mobility, involving significant walking on both flat surfaces and stairs, with swift response to facility emergencies
  • Capability to lift objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Proficiency in working on ladders, boom lifts, forklifts, and scissor lifts.
  • Ability to work in environments with varying temperatures and high levels of noise
  • Must pass annual respirator testing for PSM compliance.
  • Willingness to work in a union environment
