Refrigeration Maintenance Specialist

A well-established and renowned company based in Greenwood, IN, is seeking a Refrigeration Maintenance Specialist to join their team. The company operates in a plant environment and offers direct hire opportunities for night shift positions. This is a highly energized and impactful work culture.

Shift:

  • Night shift from 6:15 PM to 6:45 AM
  • 4 days on, 4 days off

Compensation:

  • Starting pay is $34 per hour, plus shift differentials for night shifts (2nd shift at $0.25 per hour and 3rd shift at $0.30 per hour)
  • Overtime pay of time and one-half for all hours worked over 8 hours in a day

  • If working a 12-hour shift, the pay will be $40.25 per hour, including shift differentials

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

To be successful in this role, the individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Other duties may be assigned as needed.

  • Adheres to safety, PSM, environmental, SQF, and GMP policies, procedures, and regulations
  • Demonstrates strong knowledge, judgement, and maintains high standards for work quality
  • Operates, monitors, troubleshoots, tests, adjusts, and maintains the facility’s utility systems
  • Completes progressive Boiler and Ammonia Operator Training
  • Communicates effectively, both written and verbal, in all aspects of daily work
  • Troubleshoots equipment and processes, ensuring steady-state operations across multiple shifts
  • Supports Facilities Maintenance Planner by following weekly work order schedules
  • Utilizes CMMS (SAP PM) to accurately document and track work order hours and execution
  • Collaborates with vendors and outside contractors for equipment maintenance and repairs
  • Actively participates or leads daily shift change DDS and shutdown meetings
  • Supports Break-Down-Analysis (BDA) and 5S for assigned Facilities areas
  • Actively participates in continuous improvement activities through the company performance system
  • Flexible to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as required
  • Performs other assigned duties as necessary

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 2+ years of experience in stationary engineering, industrial maintenance, commercial HVAC, or equivalent
  • Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude with demonstrated troubleshooting and repair skills
  • Completion of GCAP (or equivalent approved by Management) Boiler Tech 1 training within 6 months
  • Completion of GCAP (or equivalent approved by Management) Ammonia operator 1 certification within 6 months
  • Completion of GCAP (or equivalent approved by Management) Ammonia operator 2 certification within 12 months

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time
  • High mobility, including lots of walking on flat and stair surfaces
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Capable of working on ladders, boom lifts, forklifts, and scissor lifts
  • Able to work in a noisy environment with varied temperatures
  • Must pass respirator testing annually for PSM
  • Willingness to work in a union environment
