Field Technician

Field Technician Job Summary: We are seeking a self-directed individual for the role of Field Technician. This position requires excellent customer communication skills, the ability to generate technical reports, and the capability to provide product improvement recommendations to the Engineering team within the Product Development Group. The Field Technician will be responsible for the independent assembly, commissioning, inspection, repair, and troubleshooting of systems, both domestically and internationally.

Field Technician Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a decision-making role in Field Service
  • Certificate or degree in Electronics or Electrical Engineering
  • Ability to travel up to 70% of the time (domestic and international)
  • Proficiency in writing trip reports, return material authorizations, test reports, and corrective action reports
  • Highly preferred knowledge of PLC’s
  • Ability to read, understand, and troubleshoot systems using electrical schematics
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint in a Windows environment
  • Clean driving record
  • Fearless of heights

· Experience with PLCs, VFDs, data acquisition, wiring, power equipment, and industrial electricity is required. Highly preferred experience with Siemens, ABB, and TMEiC platforms.

· Must currently possess or be able to obtain a valid passport for international travel

Field Technician Responsibilities:

· Regularly interact with customers, end-users, vendors, and contractors

· Coordinate the scheduling and participation of stakeholders for equipment installation and start-up activities

· Ensure timely responses to customer inquiries by coordinating internally

· Troubleshoot PLCs, VFDs, and other automated equipment both on-site and remotely

· Repair equipment at customer facilities, including warranty and non-warranty claims

· Conduct routine inspections of existing system installations

· Oversee the proper implementation of pre-commissioning activities in various disciplines

· Travel to customer sites to perform final commissioning and equipment demonstrations

· Assist the project team in clearing mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and automation punch list items

· Attend project and construction meetings as needed

· Provide technical training to end-user operators and maintenance personnel

· Act as a trouble-shooter for technical issues and provide on-site support

· Independently coordinate site visits with customers and end-users

· Manage all travel arrangements, including airfare, lodging, and ground transportation

· Offer direct technical support for customers, contractors, sales, and engineering during testing and field service activities
