Ammonia Technician Positions Available

A well-established organization located in Indianapolis, IN is looking to hire two Ammonia Technicians for their night shift. This company offers a dynamic and impactful work environment.


  • Night shift hours: 6:15 PM – 6:45 AM
  • 4 days on and 4 days off schedule


  • Starting pay rate: $34/hour with shift differentials for night shifts (2nd shift at $0.25/hour and 3rd shift at $0.30/hour)
  • Overtime pay: Time and a half for any hours worked over 8 hours in a day

To excel in this role, the candidate must be able to satisfy each essential duty required:

Other duties may be assigned as necessary.

  • Adhere to safety, PSM, environmental, SQF, and GMP policies, procedures, and regulations
  • Demonstrate sound knowledge, judgment, and uphold high standards for quality work
  • Operate, monitor, troubleshoot, test, adjust, and maintain facility utility systems
  • Complete progressive Boiler and Ammonia Operator Training
  • Effectively communicate (written and verbal) in all daily work activities
  • Troubleshoot equipment and processes to ensure continuous operations across different shifts
  • Support work order schedules arranged by Facilities Maintenance Planner
  • Utilize CMMS (SAP PM) to accurately document and track work order hours and execution
  • Collaborate with vendors and contractors for equipment maintenance and repairs, as coordinated by Planner and Management
  • Participate actively in daily shift change DDS and shutdown meetings
  • Support Break-Down-Analysis (BDA) and 5S for assigned Facilities areas and actively engage in continuous improvement activities
  • Willingness to work overtime, flex work hours, weekends, and holidays as necessary
  • Perform any other duties assigned



  • High school diploma or GED required
  • At least 2 years of experience in stationary engineering, industrial maintenance, commercial HVAC, or equivalent military experience
  • Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude, with demonstrated experience in troubleshooting and repairing electrical and mechanical equipment and systems
  • Must attend GCAP (or equivalent approved by Management) Boiler Tech 1 training and successfully complete it within 6 months
  • Must attend GCAP (or equivalent approved by Management) Ammonia operator 1 training and obtain certification within 6 months
  • Must attend GCAP (or equivalent approved by Management) Ammonia operator 2 training and obtain certification within 12 months
  • Willingness to work in a union environment


  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
  • High mobility, involving extensive walking and quick response to facility emergencies
  • Capability to lift 50 lbs
  • Capability to perform work on ladders, boom lifts, forklifts, and scissor lifts
  • Ability to work in a noisy environment with varying temperatures
  • Must pass annual respirator testing for PSM
