Night Shift Maintenance Lead

A well-known and established organization is seeking a Maintenance Lead for the night shift at their manufacturing facility in Indianapolis, IN. The role will report to the Maintenance Manager and be responsible for overseeing the maintenance department, production lines, and associated equipment. The focus will be on maintaining the preventative maintenance system, achieving safety and uptime goals, and managing maintenance expenses. Additional responsibilities include tracking equipment performance, prioritizing repairs and improvements, coaching mechanical craftsmen, and providing engineering support for maintenance and capital projects. The position offers an 8% bonus eligibility, including both base salary and overtime, as well as 21 days of accrued vacation. The company also provides a generous 401k matching program and relocation assistance. The vacancy has arisen due to an internal transfer. The shift is from 6:00pm to 6:45am on a 4×4 schedule, with additional premium pay for unscheduled shifts. The company takes pride in fostering an impactful, energized, and inclusive culture.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise maintenance workers and oversee the installation and maintenance of machinery, tools, and equipment.
  • Monitor production line downtime and efficiencies, identifying maintenance and mechanical trends for continuous improvement.
  • Ensure daily maintenance is conducted by operating personnel to eliminate failures and maximize equipment lifespan.
  • Train, motivate, and direct employees to follow safe and high-quality work methods and standards.
  • Enforce safety program and comply with OSHA safety regulations and standards.
  • Take ownership of predictive and preventive maintenance activities, including oil and vibration analysis, engine-compressor analysis, and infrared thermography.
  • Evaluate preventive maintenance activities and frequencies to optimize workforce and resources for maximum equipment reliability.
  • Maintain equipment operational efficiency within the maintenance budget and in compliance with union contract and USDA regulations.
  • Read and interpret safety rules, blueprints, schematics, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Minimum of 3 years of previous maintenance experience.
  • Minimum of 1 year of management experience.
  • Experience with Preventative Maintenance programs and knowledge of Electronic and Electrical principles.
