Controls Engineer

The Controls Engineer position in Newark, OH will entail taking on leadership responsibilities and ownership for the planning and execution of power and controls capital investment projects. The individual will be responsible for not only their own project execution, but also for managing groups of projects in designated plant areas. They will provide mentoring, training, and guidance to other project leaders and support members at the site.

  • Manage and deliver assigned project objectives related to scope, schedule, budget, and cash flow.
  • Ensure daily activities are aligned with overall project priorities and goals.
  • Comply with all engineering, electrical, and site EHS standards in order to maintain safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Offer innovative ideas to enhance safety, efficiency, cost reduction, and overall performance in the workplace.
  • Lead or support the initiative to replace outdated PLCs within the organization.
  • Engage with operational teams and internal customers to ensure satisfaction of agreed-upon objectives and project outcomes.
  • Collaborate with operational team members at all levels to gather input and insights on project objectives.
  • Develop comprehensive capital plans and budgets, taking into account cost and resource requirements to meet both external and internal customer commitments.
  • Provide support for the annual operating plan process for the business unit.
  • Establish and maintain key relationships with suppliers and contractors to ensure consistent and reliable project execution.


  • Possess a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Controls Engineering.
  • Minimum of 4 years of prior controls experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong experience in project management and effective motivation skills within every layer of the business.
  • Current proficiency in Allen Bradley Compact and Control Logic PLCs, as well as Studio5000 programming environment. Familiarity with FactoryTalk ME and SE is also preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, displaying confidence in all forms of communication.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Project.
  • Proven ability to effectively organize and collaborate within a manufacturing environment.
