A busy and large private practice is seeking a Physical Therapist.
General Statement of Duties: Develops, interprets, and executes specific treatment plans for patients requiring physical therapy. Must hold a valid physical therapy license in Maryland and adhere to professional standards set by the APTA.
Supervision Received: Reports to the Director of Rehabilitation
Supervision Exercised: Oversees PT Assistant and PT Aides when Director/Assistant Director of Rehabilitation is absent
Physical Demands: Full range of body motion, including manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination; Frequent standing, walking, lifting of patients, and use of department equipment; Prolonged sitting and standing, as well as bending and stooping; Ability to communicate treatment plans to patients and prepare reports for doctors. Ability to lift and carry items up to 100 pounds.
Working Conditions: Exposure to clinic environment and common diseases
Major Responsibilities:
- Develop, evaluate, and modify treatment programs in collaboration with physicians
- Administer treatment as prescribed by physicians, clarifying instructions when necessary
- Complete patient evaluations, progress notes, and discharge summaries in compliance with company guidelines
- Handle billing procedures and resolve any issues with the Business Office staff
- Educate patients and their families on proper care and exercise programs
- Participate in required meetings, in-services, and professional development activities
- Supervise PT Aides as necessary
- Perform periodic internal documentation audits as directed by management
- Perform other assigned duties as directed by the Director/Assistant Director of Rehabilitation

Performance Requirements:
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Proficient in basic computer skills
- Familiarity with principles, practices, and standards of physical therapy
- Understanding of patient insurance verification procedures
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Familiarity with Maryland’s PT regulations and DC regulations, where applicable
- Knowledge of medical equipment usage and maintenance
- Awareness of common safety hazards and precautions for a safe work environment
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with patients, staff, and the public
- Clear oral and written communication skills
- Proficient in report writing and record-keeping for patient care
- Effective use of proper body mechanics and adherence to safety regulations
- Skill in identifying and recommending problem resolutions
Compliance:
- Comply with certification and licensure requirements of the practicing state
- Adhere to HFCA, Medicare, and other company carrier compliance regulations; Understand the responsibilities of other practice members
- Knowledge of financial and coding practices for accurate billing submission according to federal, state, and local regulations
- Awareness of billing and collection regulations
- Maintain patient confidentiality following guidelines
- Demonstrate integrity and responsible conduct
- Report any observed fraudulent or unethical behavior
- Notify management of inappropriate behavior within the organization
- Follow electronic security protocols, avoiding non-business use of company computers and cell phones during work
HIPAA-Minimum Necessary Access to PHI
This position grants access to the PT/OAC computer role only. We adhere to minimum-necessary access to patient PHI within our practice, ensuring limited use and disclosure. Access to computer information is password protected. Passwords are deleted upon termination. Our HIPAA manual explicitly defines role descriptions.
Education: Must have a Master’s or Doctorate in physical therapy from an accredited institution
Experience: Minimum clinical internships in physical therapy required
Certificate/License: Valid physical therapy license in Maryland
Work hours: Monday-Thursday, 8am-6pm. Full benefits package included.
