PRODUCT ENGINEER
Lead Engineer Summary:
The Auto Product Engineer will participate in defining the design direction for new initiatives. We are seeking a hands-on professional who is unafraid to tackle challenges, solve complex problems, and develop cutting-edge technology. The Product Engineer will contribute to vehicle development prior to launch, ensuring the final product meets high standards. Strong problem-solving skills and commitment to customer service are essential, and the engineer will closely monitor key program milestones to ensure overall success.
Responsibilities:
- Formulate and develop innovative products based on established design criteria guidelines.
- Create CAD-generated solid models and engineering drawings, providing data for FEA, mold flow evaluations, and proof of principle models to validate design concepts.
- Manage procurement of necessary products and capital expenditures.
- Coordinate testing of both existing and new products to confirm compliance with FMVSS and customer requirements.
- Continually seek out new processes and vendors to enhance products, improve quality, and reduce costs.
- Apply value-added practices to current products, processes, methods, and materials in order to identify opportunities for cost and quality improvements.
- Support quality and environmental systems, as well as APQP standards, within design engineering functions.
- Facilitate cross-functional team activities between engineering and other departments.
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, along with 1-3 years of relevant design experience and/or training; an equivalent combination of education and experience is acceptable.
- Proficiency in either Ideas or Catia v 5/6 design software.
- Expertise with Microsoft Office, advanced Excel, and knowledge of AS400 Manufacturing System.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization.
- Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, autonomous work environment; previous manufacturing experience preferred (particularly in heavy truck or automotive sectors).
- Desire to be part of a growing business and adapt to an ever-changing environment.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings.
- Practical experience with common measuring devices.
- Ability to function as a team player and leader, promoting collaboration and following through on activities.
- Demonstrated organizational and technical aptitude.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
- Capability to comprehend and apply business technical procedures and governmental regulations.
- Effective presentation skills, with the ability to communicate information and respond to queries from groups of managers, clients, and customers.
- Ability to interpret various instructions provided in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form.
- Proficiency in solving practical problems and assessing concrete variables in situations with limited standardization.
