Surveying Project Manager
We are seeking an experienced Survey Manager / PLS to lead our surveying department in Houston, Texas. This role is ideal for a licensed surveyor who excels in a leadership setting and is dedicated to delivering top-notch work, nurturing client relationships, and building a strong internal team.
Responsibilities
Oversee various land surveying projects concurrently
Create project scopes, timelines, and budgets
Provide technical guidance to ensure accuracy and quality of outputs
Lead and guide a team of field and office survey professionals
Supervise the preparation of plats, legal descriptions, topographic surveys, TxDOT right-of-way maps, and construction staking
Coordinate field activities and allocate project resources efficiently
Nurture client connections, act as the main contact, and drive business expansion
Create proposals, negotiate fees, and oversee invoicing and collections
Ensure compliance with QA/QC processes and firm standards
Contribute to firm-wide sales targets and strategic project pursuits
Support training, recruitment, and talent development within the survey team
Qualifications
Registered Professional Land Surveyor (RPLS) in Texas
Minimum 10 years of experience in land surveying, including boundary, construction, and topographic surveys
At least 5 years of experience managing survey teams and projects
Proficiency in survey software like AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, Geopak, Carlson Survey, and C&G
Business development abilities and client interaction experience
Valid Texas driver’s license with a clean driving record
Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills
Preferred Qualities
Experience preparing TxDOT right-of-way documents
Ability to foster a positive, collaborative team culture
Track record of successful project completion and satisfied clients
Passion for mentoring junior staff and expanding the department
