Certified Boundary Mapper

We are looking for a Licensed Boundary Surveyor to become a part of our skilled and dynamic group located in Billings, Montana. Our survey professionals provide extensive knowledge in defining boundaries, legal descriptions, ALTA/NSPS surveys, easement creation, water rights modifications, and thoroughness for clients from various sectors. This position presents the chance to participate in a wide range of industries such as utilities, routing, land development, and energy infrastructure.

As a Licensed Boundary Surveyor, you will be accountable for a variety of field and office-related duties, overseeing the technical and legal elements of surveying while collaborating with engineers, clients, and colleagues. This role demands strong leadership skills, meticulous attention to detail, and a comprehensive understanding of current survey tools and regulatory guidelines.

Primary Duties

  • Execute boundary, topographic, and construction surveys to establish legal property lines

  • Research historical records, maps, deeds, and past survey records

  • Generate survey outputs including legal descriptions, sketches, plats, and summaries

  • Collect and analyze survey data using GPS, total stations, UAVs, sonar, scanners, and levels

  • Develop and review CAD-based survey maps and blueprints using Trimble Business Center and AutoCAD Civil 3D

  • Supervise and guide survey technicians, organize fieldwork, and ensure data precision

  • Assist engineering projects with precise field data and collaborate with design teams

  • Maintain and monitor survey equipment, and manage any required maintenance

  • Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local land surveying regulations and standards

  • Engage in public and private project meetings and give advice on land surveying matters

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Land Surveying, Civil Engineering, or relevant field (preferred)

  • License as a Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) in Montana, or eligibility to acquire licensure within six months

  • Proficiency with Trimble systems, Trimble Business Center, and AutoCAD Civil 3D

  • Thorough understanding of land surveying principles, legal statutes, and subdivision regulations

  • Outstanding communication skills—written, verbal, and relational

  • Strong mathematical and analytical abilities

  • Capability to lead and instruct field crews and junior team members

  • A collaborative attitude and dedication to excellence, service, and honesty
