Job Summary
The Safety Specialist is vital in promoting a safety-focused culture throughout field operations. This role is responsible for implementing frontline safety initiatives, ensuring compliance with OSHA and MSHA regulations, providing training, investigating incidents, and collaborating with project leaders to minimize risk and encourage safe, effective production with the ultimate goal of zero harm.
Primary Duties
· Establish, implement, monitor, and assess safety programs in alignment with OSHA/MSHA guidelines and industry standards.
· Organize and conduct safety training for employees, from onboarding to continuous development.
· Inspect work sites, equipment, and processes to identify risks and recommend corrective measures.
· Assist project managers with risk evaluations, incident inquiries, and risk reduction planning.
· Maintain training logs, personal protective equipment inventory, and safety records.
· Monitor field practices, pinpoint high-risk trends, and coach teams toward safer behavior.
· Conduct health monitoring and contribute to safety policy, plan, and procedure development.
Requirements
· Thorough understanding of OSHA/MSHA regulations, workplace safety protocols, and hazardous work practices.
· Ability to develop training resources, conduct training sessions, and communicate effectively with field staff and management.
· Strong problem-solving, analytical, time management, and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in record-keeping and utilization of modern technology on-site.
Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record as per company standards.
Capability to pass drug and alcohol tests and lift a minimum of 40 pounds.
Self-motivated, adaptable, professional, and dedicated to ethical practices and courtesy.
Working Conditions
This role requires frequent outdoor tasks in varied weather conditions and around live construction sites. The Safety Specialist must be at ease working independently and collaboratively, meeting deadlines, and executing physically demanding duties in a secure and effective manner.
