Position Responsibilities: Experience in blood draws, specimen labeling, specimen centrifugation, maintenance data recording and decontamination, updating patient records, etc. Ensuring proper collection and storage of specimens according to established procedures. Clearly and courteously explaining the venipuncture process or other specimen collection procedures to patients. Demonstrating proper technique with straight needles and/or butterfly needles. Understanding all physician orders thoroughly. Matching laboratory requisition forms with specimen tubes. Labeling, centrifuging, splitting, and freezing specimens as per test orders. Verifying test requisitions against scripts for accuracy. Packaging specimens for transport. Properly storing specimen samples at required temperatures.
