Lead Design Engineer
The Lead Design Engineer will play a key role in the creation, enhancement, and maintenance of electrical products. This position involves hands-on technical work to develop product designs, assist in manufacturing, and drive ongoing enhancements for current and upcoming projects.
Working closely with various departments including Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, Sales, and Customers, the Lead Engineer will be responsible for delivering dependable and competitively-priced electrical solutions that meet performance, quality, and regulatory standards. In addition, this role will involve mentoring other engineers and technical team members.
- Create and innovate electrical products from initial concept to final production.
- Examine and assess engineering calculations, CAD models, blueprints, specifications, and material lists.
- Assist in prototype construction, testing, and validation procedures; analyze results and incorporate design enhancements.
- Support product qualification, life testing, and compliance evaluations.
- Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering to guarantee designs are producible, repeatable, and cost-efficient (DFM/DFA).
- Offer engineering assistance for production challenges, root cause investigations, and corrective measures.
- Participate in value engineering and continuous enhancement projects.
- Assist in customer requirements by evaluating feasibility, examining requirements, and offering technical solutions.
- Work effectively with Quality, Supply Chain, and Sales teams to resolve technical problems and support product launches.
- Engage in yearly budget conversations and cost reduction initiatives.
- Guide and train newer and mid-level engineers, promoting optimal practices in design, documentation, and issue resolution.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- 6+ years of engineering experience with a focus on electrical product/component design.
- Proficiency in Autodesk CAD tools and engineering analysis techniques.
